This program honors the work of Alice Bird Erikson (1903-1994), a naturalist, illustrator and member of the Bird Family who called these properties home. Alice studied landscape design and horticulture at Lowthorpe, a leading professional landscape architecture school of the time, and the first to train women. She illustrated the book Trees of the Countryside, by Margaret McKenny (1942).
