FOSSILS 101 is History!

Thank you to everyone who attended our first Intro to Paleontology course. And thank you to our generous and talented instructor, Carl Mehling, Senior Museum Specialist at the American Museum of Natural History. Over the course of 3 Saturdays in April and May, Carl helped us understand what exactly fossils are (shattering many myths in the process), provided an inside look at the discovery, collection, preparation, study and display of fossils, and in his final lecture this past Saturday, revealed the significance of our very own Roland T. Bird's to the study of paleontology by focusing on his groundbreaking work in Texas from 1938 to 1940.

Based on interest and intrigue created through this first 3-week course, we are hoping to repeat it next Spring (or maybe even this Fall!). Please don't hesitate to reach out with comments on your experience and interest in further courses like this.

Here is a recording of Carl's talk on Roland T. Bird that took place at The Meeting House, Saturday, May 11th.
